Program Description
This training provides an in-depth look at combining Play Therapy with EMDR. Participants will be able to describe the AIP model in the play therapy context, learn how to talk with parents and caregivers about play therapy and EMDR, and conduct thorough history taking with parents and caregivers for preparation of resource development and trauma processing. This training incorporates the use of didactic lecture, video segments, experiential activities, and case discussion for therapists to integrate the material into their practice.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the AIP model, the model of which EMDR is based, and apply the AIP model to play therapy case conceptualization using The Therapeutic Powers of Play
  2. Explain the Window of Tolerance to parents, caregivers, and child clients
  3. Describe the advancement of attachment research and perform an in depth attachment history with parents and caregivers to assess for early attachment wounds and disruptions including pre-verbal trauma for treatment planning and target identification

Qualifications to register for this program

  • Registrants of this program must be qualified mental health professionals or students of a graduate mental health program.
  • It is recommended that registrants have completed both a graduate level introductory course of play therapy or equivalent and a graduate level human development course or equivalent.
  • Play therapy credit may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals.
  • Partial EMDR training is required to attend this program.
  • It is recommended that registrants complete the full EMDR basic training and have experience with this client population before using this material.
  • This workshop is not an EMDR basic training.
  • Eligibility for EMDRIA Credits is restricted to those who have completed a full EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training.
  • Attendees who are only partially trained in EMDR are not eligible to receive EMDRIA Credits.

Program Presenter
Antoinette Martinez, M.Ed. is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas License #71350) who has experience working with children, teens, and adults. She is a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy, a Certified EMDR therapist through EMDRIA, and working on certification for Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. Antoinette Martinez has been integrating EMDR with Play Therapy since 2013.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • No refunds after the start of the program.
  • Cancellation received at least 14 days prior to a scheduled training will be refunded minus a $25.00 administrative fee.
  • Cancellation received less than 14 days prior to a scheduled training will receive no refund or credit.
  • No refund provided for no-shows or missed training.
  • You may transfer your registration to another attendee for no fee, so long as that person meets the qualifications to attend this program.
  • Attendance at full program is required.
  • All programs are subject to sufficient registration.
  • Should Nourish Play Therapy LLC need to cancel this program, we will make every attempt to notify paid registrants in a timely manner. All paid registrants will receive a full refund if a program is canceled.
  • Nourish Play Therapy LLC is only responsible for the registration costs of training. Any additional costs are the responsibility of the registrant.
