Education & Training
Antoinette earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX.  She graduated with her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas (UNT).  UNT is known for having the largest play therapy training program in the world.  Antoinette also has specialized training in
EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and SandPlay Therapy.  The World Health Organization has endorsed only two therapeutic methods for treating PTSD; EMDR therapy is one of those.  To enhance her therapeutic skills, Antoinette is also trained in the following; family therapy, expressive arts therapy, mindfulness based therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy, mental health diagnosis, and trauma treatment.

Clinical Experience
Antoinette’s prior counseling experience includes working in a non-profit agency setting with children and families impacted by interpersonal violence.  She utilizes techniques that help children learn about their feelings and helps them find ways to express those feeling in healthy ways.  Trained play therapists know that play is children's language and toys are their words.  Antoinette uses the specially selected toys in the play room in a therapeutic way to help children understand their thoughts, feelings, impulses, and needs.  Antoinette incorporates not only play therapy into her treatment but also art, animal assisted therapy, mindfulness, EMDR Therapy, and SandPlay Therapy.  Antoinette has experience in treating life changes, trauma, abuse, neglect, self-injurious behaviors, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adhd, conduct disorders, autism, developmental delays, school adjustment, divorce and separation, and other behavioral concerns.

Antoinette also believes in having healthy and strong parents and that sometimes parents have to take time to heal from their experiences.  She is available for
parenting support or adult therapy to help parents be the strong caregivers they are meant to be.

Antoinette is married and is mom to a five year old girl, a two year old boy, and two silly dogs.  She loves to make up funny stories with her children, cook meals with hidden veggies, and travel to any place with a tranquil body of water.

Antoinette is an active member of
The American Counseling Association and The Association for Play Therapy.
